About

‘Squiters Darkroom is a brand identity and standards system developed for a fictional Chicago-based analog photography darkroom designed to support photographers of all skill levels. The project began with research into darkroom culture, Chicago’s photography community, and the visual language of film photography to establish a concept rooted in craftsmanship, experimentation, and creative community.

From this foundation, the identity system was developed through a series of iterative design decisions. The logo, mascot, typography, color palette, and photographic direction were designed to reflect the tactile and hands-on nature of analog photography while maintaining an approachable and community-focused tone. The mascot serves as a recognizable symbol for the brand, while the typography and color palette draw inspiration from the tonal qualities and material processes of film development.

These elements were compiled into a comprehensive brand standards guide, outlining how the identity functions across applications.
